Should I call an emergency plumber?

If your plumbing issue poses an immediate threat to your property’s structure, your health, or your safety, it is an official emergency. We recommend to first shut off your water either by finding the shut off valve in your garage, utility room, or basement, or by calling your utility provider. Then, call our team for service if you experience:

  • Burst or Frozen Pipes: A single cracked pipe can dump up to 100 gallons of water in an hour.
  • Main Sewer Line Backups: If multiple toilets are overflowing or raw sewage is backing into drains, your main sewer line is choked.
  • Sump Pump Failure During Flooding: If your pump dies during a heavy Indiana downpour, in an area prone to flooding, your property is at risk. Kingdom Air services and installs sump pump systems, and can be there we you need us most.
  • Water Heater Tank is Leaking: If your water heater tank is leaking from the base, it means the inner lining has ruptured and you are at risk of a structural burst. If you are unable to turn off water that feeds the tank, you are at an immediate risk. Kingdom Air can assess the leak, and provide options for repair or replacement of your hot water heater.

If you have a slow leak on a faucet or fixture, a hot water heater that is only not heating (no leaks present), or a clogged toilet or sink in only one area, we recommend calling during normal business hours so those in need of true emergency service may be taken care of.

Frequently Asked Emergency Plumbing Questions

What can I do to mitigate water damage during a leak before a technician arrives?

Immediately locate the water shut off point to the home. Most homes have a main water shut-off valve either in the basement, utility closet, garage, or near the water heater facing the street side of the home. If you are unable to find the shut off, many city utilities have emergency numbers you can call to have your water shut off from the street or meter.

If you shut off your water for any length of time, it is recommended to turn off the gas valve or breaker for your water heater, as tanks that drain down while still heating can burn out elements or crack.

First, check to make sure your sump pump has power and that the outlet or breaker has not tripped. Sometimes power cycling the pump will allow it to function. If the pump is humming, clogged, not turning on, or unable to keep up with incoming water, call for service right away.

Turn off the small water supply valve (if present) located near the base of the toilet to stop the supply of water to that toilet. An overflowing toilet in one room may be caused by a simple clog or continuously flowing drain, but it can also be a sign of a deeper drain or sewer issue if multiple drains are backing up.

If you suspect a frozen pipe, turn off the water to that area of the home, or the whole home if needed. Open any faucets connected to the frozen line to relieve pressure. You can attempt to warm the area with a safe heat such as warm towels or a hair dryer. If the pipe has already burst, or you cannot locate the frozen section, call for plumbing service immediately.
